| What an exciting weekend for Champion System Racing at the Spring Series in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Miguel met his match at the Series with Joao Correia of Team Bicycling Magazine. Like Miguel, he is an Ex-Pro from Portugal and a World Champion.
Throughout the race Team Champion System were active covering moves made by the big boys from ColavitaSutter Home Racing and Empire Racing. The field at, 125 strong, were reluctant to let anything away in early part of the race, but at Half – Time, Empire Racing, ColavitaSutter Home Racing, and Team Bicycling Magazine made a break for it and got away. Our boys in orange were patient, but when the break exceeded 45 seconds it was time to react, and the field reeled in the break. Blake Longacre and Miguel Morras jumped on the last hill with less the 5K to the finish.
They took along one other rider from Empire Racing, the three worked hard, but Blake’s leg could not handle the pressure. Miguel and his opponent from Empire Racing were working hard together to catch the leaders up the road, but were short by a few seconds and took 4th. The winner was Joao Correia of Team Bicycling Magazine. Miguel’s effort still keeps him in the Leader’s Jersey and Team Champion System plans on defending it.
It was a job well done by the team but there are 5 more races to go in this series and it is still anybody’s race.
